This is just simply a fantastic. It's a pity the author no longer works on this plugin but I understand his reasoning. Had a small issue with urls being changed but adding in an exception in the filter solved that issue. And yes this plugin works flawlessly on Wordpress 4.0. And no I have noticed any difference in speed on my site (those who are might want to check their server config).
