How do you choose the thumbnail pic for gallery posts?

Hi,

I’m relatively new to wordpress, although I have been messing around and experimenting with it for several months.

Anyway, there is one annoying problem when I post galleries. Sometimes on my homepage in which a summary of the gallery post is shown, the image in the preview is not the image I want to be the thumbnail, and I can’t freaking figure out how to change it.

I’ve searched for answers for months on the Internet, but perhaps I’m using the wrong search terms.

I’m not seeking to increase traffic to my site, but providing a link to it may help show what I’m talking about. On my homepage, the thumbnail for my gaming computer post is the stock computer case image, instead of the first image. I have updated it numerous times, but it has no effect. The image I want to show up on the homepage is the first image in the post.
